Yes, we’ve had one voluntary recall back in July 2015. A batch of our 12” tremenda sticks were found to be potentially contaminated with salmonella.
After that happened, we’ve implemented some stricter biosecurity protocol which will help prevent it from happening again. Our warehouse now completely complies with the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act. FSMA aims to ensure the U.S. food supply (including pet food and treats!) is safe by shifting the focus to preventing contamination of the food supply, rather than responding to it.
Importantly, we test every single batch of treats that ends up at our warehouse using a third party laboratory to ensure that there are no common pathogens (E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria) present on any of the treats.
At Tuesday’s Natural Dog Company, we take food safety very seriously, and since implementing the above measures, we have not had any issues involving recalls or contamination of product.
